OOC Account: Freshmint
Name: Visk Bluheim
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 17th March
Age: 21
Class: Desian
Weapon Class: Lance
Attack Type: Long and mid-range combat using a mix of swings and thrusting motions with his polearm, supplemented with occasional magic and dance-styled techs. His attacks all move to a beat, making it possible to avoid them if you time your movements along with his.
Appearance: A half-elf, like all Desians, Visk possesses a combination of features inherited from both sides of his family tree. While not so fair or delicate as an elf, he does however posses their pointed ears and magical capability, and from humans he receives greater physical strength and a generally bulkier build. Making him on the whole average - not as agile as an elf, not as slow as a human.
Inheriting his accursed elven blood from his father's side, Visk had the good fortune at least to be born with dark brown hair, which at first helped to disguise the fact that he was a half-breed. Upon joining the Desians however, he dyed his hair a brighter color using magic, turning it ice blue to fit in more with his new brothers-in-arms. Wearing it cut short and spiked around the fringe, and longer at the back, where it curls upwards slightly.
Dyeing his eyes blue as well, he also tries to keep a more lithe, elven figure by eating as little as possible; in order to mask his more obvious human appearance. Wearing a standard Desian uniform, color-coded blue to signify his position as a member of the Asgard Human Ranch, when wearing his helmet Visk resembles an average soldier with no real identifying features. Save the fact that he uses a Lance, a weapon more traditionally carried by Desian females.
Set within a runic key crest, hidden beneath the glove covering his right hand, is an exsphere. One of the many thousands manufactured at Asgard. His weapon, a typical Desian spear, also has an exsphere embedded into the pommel of the blade, both designed to increase his efficiency and power in combat.
Personality: Though he wasn't always so cold, over time serving as one of the Desians, Visk couldn't help but pick up on their beliefs and philosophy. Indeed, what reason did he have to question it? Taken into their ranks, an army of oppressed individuals just like him, eager to exact their revenge on the world, Visk embraced their beliefs as if coming home to a new family. And as such developed the same arrogant haughtiness and intense dislike for individuals outside his own hybrid species. In particular the elves, who locked away within their forests were practically untouchable.
Naive towards the intentions of Cruxis, hailing Derris-Kharlan indeed as a "backup world" should the tainted one he currently lived in fall, he serves the angels with the true dedication of a pawn. Unaware of how small a part he plays in the lifeless being's intricate plot. Just another Desian to the humans, a savage desensitized barbarian who sleeps soundly at night even after a day converting humans into crystal tools, when taken into context with his fellow half-elves, Visk is quite a different person.
Though desensitized towards the lives of humans and elves, seen through he eyes of his own half-elf kin Visk becomes a guardian, not a soldier. Sympathetic to their woes, having lived through them all himself, towards other half-elves Visk is compassionate and protective. Even towards others he has never met before, and eager to extend to them the offer of safety in numbers which is the Desian's strength. Always gentle, never forceful, even towards the Renegades he displays a sense of pleading companionship. Seeing them merely as misguided souls who have become disillusioned, not as traitors or enemies.
A killer, but only be necessity, in battle Visk prefers rather than the usual all-out slaughter of most Desians to incapacitate or weaken his opponents. Capturing rather than killing if at all possible. While it may be a small mercy, considering what the Desians usually do to their prisoners, it is a mercy nevertheless. A passing indication of the fact that he dislikes the way things are, a world divided by hate and prejudice. Alas, his way of solving this problem is only further contributing to the cause, beyond his realization.
History: Born as a result of a brief, but passionate encounter between his father, and elf, and his human mother, Visk was born with the curse of bearing two different bloodlines. Though he was born in the Sylvarant city of Palmacosta, his mother quickly decided that it would be wise to move to Asgard. A place where she would be able to raise her child with a little more discretion.
The plan worked seemingly well, at first. Born with dark hair, her son wasn't immediately recognizable as a half-elf. So long as he kept it growing long, and the tips covered with a hat, he was able to pass mostly for a human. The deception worked for the most part, at least, until he was 7. When inevitably he forgot to put it on one windy day.
The reaction was immediate. People started looking at him differently, whispering things behind his and his mother's back. Children he had been friends with only days before suddenly began teasing him, turning on him. The adults paid him no sympathy. Why? Why had the sudden revelation that he was a half-elf changed so much for him? People had had the chance to get to know him, they were fine with who he was before, why such a sudden change?
Confused an upset, the severity of the children's taunts increasing, bordering on violent behavior, his mother's social life deteriorating, Visk began to grow bitter and frustrated at the harshness of humanity. Discrimination planting it's seeds within him, hate from his fellow villagers blossoming into hate for them. One especially frustrating day when he was 14, after enduring 7 additional years of abuse, he finally snapped and got into a fight with one of the neighborhood boys. it was just the opportunity they had been waiting for.
He was labeled a troublemaker, violent, and also wrongly as a thief. The town using his outburst as an excuse to banish both him and his mother, despite her attempts to pacify the situation. That very same night, after the two had decided to make for Luin together, Visk abandoned his mother for what he had convinced himself was her own good. Without him, she would be able to start a normal life in Luin, free from prejudice.
Vulnerable and lonely, though skeptical of receiving any response, Visk turned to the Goddess Martel. Praying desperately for kinship, security, the chance to be accepted. All the things that had been denied to him. As if by a stroke of divine luck, the next day he encountered a group of Desians out on patrol. Though paranoid at first, having heard many terrible stories about them, Visk quickly changed his opinion of them however when they welcomed him with open arms.
Though too young to join their ranks as a soldier, Visk was allowed to stay living with them within the ranch barracks. Where he was able to learn about the uses of magitechnology, combat and magic in general. Gradually taking on more and more of their Desian beliefs, the other half-elves treating him like a little brother of sorts, the turning point came when some fresh human specimens were captured from Asgard - among them some of the people who'd rejected him. Now pleading for his mercy, Visk was allowed his revenge freely by his new Desian brothers. Establishing humans firmly as the enemy as he took out his rage on his now helpless tormentors.
Joining the Desian ranks as a lancer at the age of 18, after being equipped with an exphere and fully integrated into the Desian culture, Visk has since served alongside his half-elf siblings as a contributing member of the Asgard Human ranch. Indirectly serving the ranch's overseer, Kvar, and maintaining the process of exsphere production. That is, until that fateful day.
Without warning, out of the blue one day the ruthless terrorist Lloyd Irving and his band of anarchistic allies broke into the Asgard Ranch. Slaying Lord Kvar and then setting the ranch to self-destruct. A blow for freedom for them, but to Visk, it was nothing less than carnage. Out on patrol at the time, along with a scattered few others, Visk was at the time unaware of the Ranch's destruction until he returned to make his report. Finding his home demolished, and hundreds of his kinsmen dead.
Deprived of the safety brought by the magitechnlogy fortress, along with his adopted family, Visk and the few remaining survivors found themselves cut off from their chain of command. Alone and surrounded once more by individuals who despised them, trapped in a world which was already in decline...
