Brian couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't stay locked up in the manor, trying to read books though his life had no purpose. His father had fled, a criminal now, leaving so many unanswered questions. First, who was this "Lady Estressa" that he was friends with, that Brian was supposed to have been sent to for experiments? Who was Firo himself really? Brian had heard he'd sprouted wings of flame on that day of chaos. Wings? How was that even possible?
Brian had no answers to anything. And honestly, he probably couldn't stay much longer anyway. There was no doubt whatsoever that the events of that day would soon be brought to public light. Brian had fought and killed one of his only two friends that day, trying to escape. Once that was fully discovered, Brian would probably be found out as a half-elf soon after that, and almost certainly be executed...
In truth, Brian didn't want to avoid death, though part of him still had utter terror at the thought. He hated being alive almost, like this. However, his guilt... Actually gave him some more will to live. For Raia's sake, Brian had to find out the truth! The truth of everything that was going on... But he couldn't stay in Meltokio.
Brian took that same flagpole that he had fought and killed Raia with. This would be his weapon... It was utterly impractical, but Brian didn't want to let go. Even though Raia had been buried with his naginata, and had never even touched this, Brain still somehow felt as if his friends strength was flowing through him as he held it. He didn't know why, but he just... He missed his friend. And this was the closest connection he'd ever have now.
As Brian walked out of the exquisite doors of that manor, he suddenly had a thought that had never occurred to him before. He wanted to know where he came from himself. For some reason, he'd never even thought about it before. He knew the ones who had raised him weren't his real parents. It had certainly been beaten into him enough times. For some strange reason, only as he took the first few steps to leaving everything he'd ever known behind, he now thought of one more reason he should live and find the truth. He wanted to know where he'd come from.
In a way, Brian knew it didn't matter. But in another way, it mattered more than anything else at all. It didn't shape who he was, but it was what he was. His parents, a human and an elf, a forbidden union... At least, in the eyes of the majority of people no doubt.
Brian shook his head. He shouldn't be staying here thinking, he should leave. And take the true first steps to the answers he sought. Brian walked forward, with more confidence in his step than ever before. Brian walked toward the ridiculously exquisite golden gate of his manor, and out into the street. And now, his journey would begin... While he was holding a six foot pole made of wood that was about a foot longer than he was tall.

Looking at all the mountainous areas, that surrounds Tethe'Alla. The young half-elf, wondered if today would be full of surprise. For he had come to grab some lemon gels, since Collete keeps dying in battle; and everyone's tired of wasting Life Bottles. Suggesting they use somebody besides Collete, all Genis got was a look that read: "What is wrong with you Collete's the best person on the team!" Sighing Genis told everyone he was going to Meltokio, and that began his journey. Fighting a couple monsters along the way, Genis could handle monsters all by himself now. Since he was a near master in the art of magic, he wondered if there were any other spells he didn't know. Still keeping track of how many spells he was using, he need to use Dark Sphere five more times before that spell reached fifty, - It was his newest spell - then every spell he used would be at fifty or higher. Smiling Genis went to the gates of Meltokio.
Sighing as he saw guards protecting the gates, Genis made his way to the sewer. Ever since the brilliant Chosen, had decided to get all of the heros banned from Meltokio; they had, had to use the sewers to get in. Running past some rats, he finally made it out of the sewers. Going straight to a inn, since he reeked of sewage; he stayed a night and took a hot warm bath. After the long night of relaxation, Genis came back to reality. Walking over to the item shop, he bought ten lemon gels; and one orange gel. Genis decided on a visit to Zelos, he is very skillful with the females. Deciding that maybe, just a slight chance that Zelos could give Genis some tips to make Presea fall in love with him; Genis ran to Zelos's house. Thinking of all the possibility's if this plan worked, but then something caught his attention. A noble carrying, a huge ass stick, that was taller than him! Whistling Genis caught something that was odd: The Noble was a half-elve! Deciding on approaching the man, Genis walked up to him.
Getting a little nervous, for this man was older and could seriously hurt Genis; especially with his huge wood. Speaking: "Umb, hey mister... What's a noble Half-Elve doing in Tethe'Alla? In case you haven't noticed I'm a half-elve as well. But I have friends that are human; but don't get me wrong I don't think the discrimination is wrong. But can I hang out with you? Maybe somebody won't pick on me if I'm with a older, taller man? Please?" He asked nervously, for if the man declined; he might hurt Genis for Genis was a Half-Elve as well. The man might tell the pope, or something. Genis was worried that his words could end his life, and even worse none of his friends were there to bail him out. So evidently if something happened: 1.) His friends would worry, 2.) There's a chance of Death, and 3.) How would Raine feel? How would she feel if her only brother died. Why was Genis so stupid? Oh well it doesn't matter now all that mattered was what the man had to say. Sighing Genis awaited the man's response.~ 543 Words ~

Brian was slightly stunned when the boy came up to him and started talking. He was also scared that someone might overhear and there would be more major problems. He did not need everyone to know he was a half-elf. That would likely result in way more conflict than he wanted.
When the boy finished speaking, Brian himself being too timid to interrupt, he said quietly, but urgently, "Please don't be so loud! People don't know I'm a half-elf... I was planning on leaving Meltokio, but I guess I could stay with you..." Brian really was having trouble thinking of how to respond. He looked around, and noticed that several people were staring at him.
Brian said, once again quietly but urgently to the boy, "Let's get out of here!" He wasn't sure why this kid thought he'd be a good "older, taller man" Brian barely looked like much more than a child himself. With a clean-shaven... Well, not-needing-to-be-shaven, face, and a height of only five feet, as well as being rather thin... Yeah. He looked like he needed the same amount of protection as the kid...

Watching as the man whispered. Wondering if he should have whispered earlier, a giggle erupted from inside him. Giggling because it was too late now, Genis found this rather funny; but knowing the man - who hadn't told Genis his name yet - probably wouldn't find it funny; decided on not telling him. He heard what the man had to say, he looked at the oncoming eyes. Giving a evil eye to a old man, he said whispering so the half-elf couldn't hear: "Ya you better move!" When the old man had left Genis returned his attention back to the half-elf. Remembering his manners, Genis wanted to introduce himself. "Hey, so before we get out of here, my name is Genis and yours is? Also, you should stick with me, I'm a pretty good mage. I know every element besides light, and I have level two spells in every department! Cool yea, I know. So let's go!"
Grabbing the man's arm, he hurried to get to the place he stayed last night. Hoping that his friends wouldn't mind if he stayed another night, he went to the inn. Going up to the lady, Genis pulled out some gald, only to be stopped by the man. "Ugh no I'm paying, me and my friends have a ton of gald! Emphasis on Gald!" Going up to his room, Genis wondered what the man did. Soon a lot of different occupations came into the young half-elfs mind. What if he's a explorer? Raine would surely love that! Hmm what if he's a mage, maybe he could teach me some new spells! Wouldn't that be dope! Yea, it would... Hmm why am i thinking this, I should just ask him... Fine I will! Wait i control my mind, why am i fighting with it? I'm so weird! Going over to get some water first; for he was dehydrated from all that crazy shopping! After coming back in the room, he asked the man: "So what's your name, and what do you do? I'm very curious..."~ 340 Words ~

Brian had no idea how to react to the boy. He wasn't even able to form a response when he was asked his name, and let himself be dragged along to an inn. He wasn't sure how to start up a conversation, or say much of anything, and so he just watched as Genis revealed that he had a surprising amount of gald for such a young child...
Brian went to the room that they'd just gotten in the inn, due to his lack of actual protesting. The boy left, and then came back... Shortly followed by more questions. Brian responded shakily, still a little disoriented, "Er... my name is Brian. I suppose I..." Well, he didn't really have a job. "I guess I'm just a mage, unemployed now. I'm pretty good with water, ice, and dark magic, though I can't use Light or healing at all... Haven't quite fully grasped the others though, I didn't always have enough free time to study..."
Brian sighed. No doubt the boy would follow with a barrage of more questions, so he decided to not take the trouble. "I was coming out of that manor because I lived there, yes, but not anymore. My foster father was a noble, but now a criminal. He drew his sword for no apparent reason on a woman in the street, a friend of mine actually. Considering all that happened... I'm likely to be discovered as a half-elf, and probably killed somehow. That's why... That's why I decided to leave Meltokio..." Probably the most he'd said at once in his life. He wasn't much for conversation, and he was extremely timid...

Listening as the man known as Brain told his tale. The selfish side of Genis took over, he instantly thought of all he could do if this man taught him advanced Water, Dark, and Ice techs! Waiting for Brain to finish, Genis felt a tad bit depressed because this man had lived such a hard life; and Genis's hasn't been easier but easier than that. But having been raised by his crazy sister hadn't been easy, but it had made Genis smarter than he ever would of been. But at what cost? Genis had a few friends... Thinking of that made Genis sad, looking down he remembered his question. "Umb you see i'm not very strong in ice magic, dark, or water... and I was wondering if you could teach me?" Asking had been harder than saying it in his mind, that is what the young elf in halfness learned today; but it wasn't the only thing he would learn...

Brian was slightly surprised when Genis suddenly asked him to teach more magic. He stood there for a moment, with no idea whatsoever how to react... Then, he said, sounding somewhat timid as usual, "Er... While I am the best at those elements, I never had much time to practice... I only know rather basic spells so far... I don't know how much help I'd be..."
Brian sighed, and said apologetically "I'm... Sorry I couldn't be of more help I suppose. I really should be leaving Meltokio soon though, after that scene up there, it's likely only a matter of time before guards or something come, suspecting me of being a half-elf..."
Suddenly, Brian heard a knock on the door to the room they were in. "Er... Hello?" Brian asked, as he started walking toward the door.

Without having waited for any greeting, a few Papal Knights entered the room, their metal armour clacking noisily as they entered. The three of them carried large spears, and the one that stood at the head of the triangle they formed was tinted in red--one could easily guess he was probably of a higher rank than those behind him. Glancing around, the large, headless-seeming helmet stated at Brian, and pointed his large, pointy spear at him.
"Brian Kana," he began. "You have been charged with murder and attacking civilians. You are to be taken into questioning immediately." The large armour then looked at Genis. "And you as well--an alias of the crime for interacting with the culprit. Men, take them away." The two others then stepped up, pointing their spears to the young men's necks and turning around slowly to grab them from behind, to take them out of the room.

Listening as Brain told Genis about how weak he is at casting spells. Cursing quietly that only a person with really powerful ear lobes could hear. For Genis wanted to learn some new spells. Thinking: Of course! No wonder he seems so jumpy. I get it now, this noble is weak! Pht of course, oh well i should probably look out for him. I just wish i could contact Lloyd and the others. I would HATE it if they worried about me! Smirking for Genis loves attention. Listening as Brian said sorry more than a person Genis would soon meet: Emil. Sighing as Brain let in some people without even knowing who they were. "Rookie mistake," Genis muttered for now there were Papal Knights.
He hated Papal Knights, but they were fun to hurt. Watching as the leader announced that Brian was arrested just for being a half-elf. Already preparing a spell Genis got angrier when the knights were going to go after him as well. "Brian you get the ones in the front I'll get the ones in the back! Then we both charge the leader got it?" without waiting for a answer, Genis unleashed his spell on one of the Papal Knights in the back. "Get em, Lightning!" Genis roared as he hit one of the Papal Knights. Blocking at a swipe to the neck genis jumped over the Papal Knight.
Preparing another spell, another purple circle erupting from beneath his feet. His kendama beating furiously, closing his eyes Genis muttered: "Wanna Charge? Thunder Blade." A purple sword coming from the heavens to destroy one of the Papal Knights, opening his eyes Genis watched as a purple circle erupted from underneath the Papal Knight that got hit with the Lightning. The already damaged one fell back wards dead. Jumping back as the other Papal Knight charged.
Glancing over at Brains battle Genis smiled, for Brain was doing a good job. Looking at the other Papal Knight, Genis prepared the spell that one end his life. A black circle glowing beneath Genis's feet, he waitied for his spell to be ready...

Brian was barely able to process this. He was being charged with murder and attacking civilians...? The murder was no surprise, Raia was dead, and Brian had been too scared to say what happened... But attacking civilians? Was he being charged with his father's crimes as well...?
Brian had been prepared to head in, too scared to fight... But then, Genis said a plan to fight. A debate in Brian's mind occurred during a split second that felt like far longer. The voice of his fear appeared in his head, while time seemed to stop for a moment. They'll destroy you. You know that. Just let him die and don't move. Brian couldn't accept that. No! I can't just do that! The voice asked cruelly. Do you want to die here? Brian got sick of trying to argue. He knew he could beat this! They'll kill me either way! This way I at least have a chance!
And then, Brian started moving. He wasn't holding his flagpole, but he spun around and grabbed the spear the knight was holding suddenly. With the strength granted by his Exsphere, he yanked as he moved, and then grabbed for the pole he used as a weapon, snatching it from where he'd set it. Brian swung it with as much force as he could toward the man.
Brian then began casting his Fallen spell. He finished, and cried, "Ancient darkness, strike! Fallen! A glyph appeared directly under the man, and in just a moment, it would send a beam of darkness shooting up. He had no idea whether the energy would spread, dissipate, or just shoot through the roof when it hit the ceiling... Brian prepared to try and block any strikes that would come. He was shaking as he held the long, thin piece of wood that he didn't really know how it hadn't broken yet anyway... But he was prepared.

"Dammit, they're attacking! Don't let them outwit you!" The leader called, and headed for the smaller boy casting. He wasn't fast enough, and the Lightning hit one of his other men, but the leader went to smash down on him nice and hard, and broke his casting, where he wasn't able to complete the casting of the Thunder Blade.
The other one was hit with the darkness spell, but easily wasn't down yet. The two lower soldiers continued to try and attack, swinging their big heavy spears around at the two boys.
Suddenly, the leader called out, "Magic! They're half-elves! Show no mercy!" And he charged at Brian, rage building up as his speed was shown as much more superior compated to the other two.

Growing angrier as the seconds pass, Genis was not a happy camper. For the enemies had blocked one of his spells and when Genis had thought he killed a enemy that enemy was still alive! Growing scared Genis called out: "Were gonna die! Ahh!" Genis screamed as he put up his kendama in hopes of protecting himself, against an oncoming spear. He beat the closest solider with the red bouncy ball on his "toy". The enemy's were just coming around everywhere, Genis soon found himself next to Brian. "Having fun yet? Genis asked in his "all knowing tone"...
Jumping back over to his soldiers beating the enemy's a little. Hearing the "Die!" or "Half-Elf fall!" You know the usual. All Genis really wanted was for this fight to be over, but we all know nothing's that easy. Like you could just snap your fingers and the enemy disappear in a smoke of white Mizuho ninja magic. This was one of those moments, but Genis didn't want to waste time snapping his fingers in the middle of a battle. What would Brian think? Somewhere between maybe I should leave this kid or what a freak. Somewhere between those two...
His familiar purple circle sprang around his feet. He really wanted to end this fight now, but he knew one spell wouldn't end this. He had never known how hard it would be to fight enemy's without front line attackers. Deciding he would never do that again, Genis noted the distance between him and his two opponents. Feeling bad for Brian because he had to deal with three enemy's including the leader; who you could tell by looking at him far outmatched the others. Finally his spell was ready. A couple words escaped the protection of his sealed mouth. "Wanna charge? Thunder Blade!" Genis put in a little extra mana so this attack might be stronger just a tiny bit stronger. He really wanted to defeat his two Papal Knights so he could save Brain in case of close death. Giving himself a apple gel, Genis waited to see if his attack would work.

The words were a blow to him, but he'd known that they were coming. It shouldn't really have mattered, he'd know they'd kill him without mercy for being a half-elf, but hearing it out loud made him feel even worse than the knowledge alone had. The man who'd been hit by the Fallen spell just kept on going. Brian quickly moved his weapon and struck upward as a downward swing came from the enemy's spear, blocking it, though apparently it had been just a near miss and his block would have done no good anyway, as Brian felt the front of his robes press against his skin. If that strike had been just a couple of millimeters closer, it would have cut into his skin.
Brian really had to wonder what this three-inch thick piece of wood was made out of, and why the hell anyone would use it for a flagpole... Since it hadn't broken instantly upon being hit by the soldier's spear. Brian pushed upward with his Exsphere-enhanced strength, to send the man's spear to the side. Then, as Brian stepped to the left, he smashed upward toward the man's chin, though his entire face was covered by a helmet.
Brian then saw that the obvious leader of the three knights was charging at him. This did not look good... Brian attempted to dodge and block the charge, but he wasn't fast enough, he took a hit straight to his right shoulder, and let out cry of pain. He was going to die here... They were at a severe disadvantage, two mages against three soldiers... He just wished that Genis hadn't gotten caught up in this, and that Raia's death hadn't been in vain...

The knights were beginning to become annoyed, and tired, also. Spellcasters were so annoying, and being that their heavy armour weighed them down, they couldn't get to them and distract them from their casting... and thus the spell would be iniciated, and they would all die a horrible, ugly death.
The Thunder Blade hit the two knights head-on, and from the damage they'd already taken, the multiple jolts of electricity to their system was an overload, and they clattered to the floor in a big mess of metal with blood seeping out of the gaps in each piece.
Only the commander was left, dueling with that of which he longed to capture and present to his master and be praised and paid accordingly. His spear was knocked aside, where he flipped it around and attempted to go and stab the kid through the stomach with the smaller point on the other side.

Hoping oh wait scratch that praying that nobody would disrupt his thunder blade his wish came true. The holy blade of thunder ripping two of their enemys to shreds. Being overjoyed they had this in the bag! Psh why was he even scarred earlier Genis did not know. But now the Leader was coming for Genis! The smirk vanishing from his face as the end of a spear came towards him. Without time to block the attack Genis took the blow like a true twelve year old. Grunting as he fell to the ground on one leg. That blow ahd been more than he bargained for almost to much... Looking at Brain Genis wanted to give up, how ncie it would of been to just embrace death right here right now. But those thoughts weren't going through his mind; what was going through his mind was: How the hell will we end this?!? The young haf-elf wondered, as he tried to block another attack from the leader. Being to close, Genis jumped back he wanted to end this now; before reinforcements came.
Preparing a quick spell, Genis unleashed three small fire balls at his enemy. After the secnd fire ball hit the third swiveled and did not make it to the oppenet. That's when a idea occured, - lightbulb! xD - We should attack in unison! Calling out to Brian: "We gotta attack in unison, on my call!" Genis ordered suddenly playing the part of the leader. Running up to the Leader, Genis spinned a single time. His kendama at his side, but the red "boucny" ball was prancing around; no it was perfectly still. Only one target in sight, the leader! When the red ball connected with the leader; Genis screamed: "NOW!"
Unison Attack baby!
Genis: Thunder Blade!
Genis's purple holy blade, fell from the sky against the leader. Now all Genis could hope for was that they could possibly make a mixture of the two spells; that was their only chance...
