Brian probably should have headed the other way, past the Grand Tethe'alla Bridge toward Sybak. Since, there really wasn't much in this direction. At all. He'd been in such a rush to just get out of Meltokio and away from the guards that had been trying to capture him, that he hadn't been paying attention. Brian felt horrible thinking about that... He'd been such a coward, once he had a chance to run away, he did. He didn't even know what had happened to Genis...
And now, Brian was near the Fooji Mountains. He only now realized that there wasn't really anything in this direction... And only now realized that it didn't matter. He was considered a criminal, he'd probably end up being captured if he went to Sybak either. He'd be killed if he somehow managed to reach Ozette, and Flanoir was all the way across the ocean...
Brian stopped and sighed. He held the six foot long, three inch thick piece of wood with both hands, looking like he was using it to keep himself standing up as he shook. Brian always shook. Even in the rare instances where he wasn't scared of something like, say, his shadow...
Speaking of which, Brian let out a yelp as he saw movement across the ground. Okay, so it wasn't his shadow, but it was a shadow, the shadow of a small bird flying by far overhead... Yes, he was that timid. No, he didn't like it.
Brian sighed. "Maybe I should turn around...? he wondered aloud. Then, he remembered something. He thought he had once heard about a dwarven blacksmith that lived in a forest near the Fooji Mountains... Maybe he should look. See if he could get a better weapon than... This. Brian honestly had no idea how this piece of wood hadn't broken already...
Brian saw some woods nearby, and figured that they might be where the dwarf lived. Or at least, it couldn't really hurt to look... Could it?
