OOC Account: ShiningDrake
Name: Drake Aurelis
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: September 6
Age: 16
Class:Half-Elf/Were-dragon
Weapon Class: Twin Blade
Attack Type: Weapon and Magic
Height: 6' 7"
Weight: 200 lbs
Appearance:His thick, straight, dark brown hair is not really long per se, but it's not really short either. It goes about halfway down his neck in the back, and on the sides it goes just past the tops of his ears, though it doesn't hang down at all, it lays flat against his skin. His bangs go almost all the way down to his green eyes. Drake wears a light green shirt, with a dark green cape and bluish-black pants. Near the shoulders, peeking from behind the cape, you see two spots that are slightly darker green than the rest of the shirt, but not as dark as the cape. Around those spots, it looks almost like there is a very light golden colored metal.
His height is rather imposing, especially for only 16, and people often are surprised when they see him. He carries himself rather cautiously at all times, though also rather quickly. He has a strange mark on his hand. It is black, shaped like the silhouette of a dragon, seen from the side. He has a copy of this image on a silver pendant he wears, which is quite plain other than that.
When he is angry, or excited in battle, his eyes seem to change. They become golden, with slit pupils that almost appear to be tiny windows, looking into a world of endless flames. This makes him very intimidating when angry, however, it is very rare for anyone who sees him like this to not jump to conclusions. Because of this odd trait he has, people who have had him angry at them usually are terrified of him from that point on. Or they start drawing conclusions and think that he's some sort of demon...
Personality:He always wants to help people in need, regardless of the cost to himself. He's a bit of a dreamer and idealist, and always hopes and wishes for a better future for the world. He is also rather impulsive, and if he sees a fight break out, he almost always feels the need to intervene. He has a bit of a temper, and is easily annoyed, though it is difficult to get him from being annoyed to outright enraged. He tends to make sarcastic, cynical, or occasionally just plain slightly joking comments about whatever situation he's in. When he's annoyed, his comments tend have more of an edge to them...
Despite all of this, when in combat, he is usually calculating, and very effective as a tactician of sorts. He usually tries to capture enemies instead of killing them if they are not in large numbers, but if one of his friends is harmed, he will go all out in giving the enemy that hurt them a swift yet very painful death. He enjoys combat itself, but only under certain circumstances does he enjoy killing the one he is fighting. He has no pity for bandits and the like, those who care for nothing but themselves and are willing to kill innocents for their greed, so he will go all out against them, giving them very painful deaths.
He is not very good with people, even though he likes to talk with people most of the time, he's not good at carrying on a conversation, and often talks with him will end abruptly and awkwardly, or with a misunderstanding due to his wording something rather poorly. He tends to tread a very thin line between being blunt and tactful, he's usually not afraid to come out and say what he wants to, but he tries not to be too harsh or just plain rude. All of this combined means that he usually ends up with either good friends or people he can't stand that can't stand him, rarely in between. He tries to be tolerant of people, but occasionally he will lose his temper and give a very frightful scare to the person he is angry at as they are lifted into the air.
When it comes to combat, he sometimes comes across as arrogant, but that is because of an absolute refusal to lose, not because he thinks he can't. He knows that he can help no one if he's dead, and his determination keeps him going through pain that many people would not be able to withstand.
History: Drake was raised alone, by an elven woman, who claimed to be his grandmother. They lived apart from the other elves, and from everyone else, on a small farm, on the border of Gaorachhia forest. There wasn't much other place to go apart from the forest. The woman never talked about his real parents. Actually, if Drake mentioned them, she would get very, very angry, and after muttering a number of words that sounded like curses, would beat him. Presumably, one of his parents was an elf. He did have natural magic abilities after all, though he didn't look any different than a normal human. It would fit with the woman's claim as well...
He was worked to the bone by his "grandmother", from an early age, she seemed to enjoy watching as Drake collapsed from exhaustion, then forcing him to get up again. Once Drake was done working, she'd always seem to find more work, or even create it for him. Drake could not stand to be around the woman at all. She would only take a break from torturing him when he couldn't stand anymore, or when for some reason she would never explain, would head of into the forest with buckets filled with meat.
One night, when he was twelve, Drake tried to run away. He couldn't take the abusive old hag in the least. However, he ran into a strange creature. Or rather, two of them. They appeared to be... Dragons!? They were moving quite strangely however. Almost as if they didn't want to attack him, even though they were. Drake tried to get away from them but even with their strange behavior, he couldn't evade them. One of them bit him on his right hand, while the other wrapped around him, preventing him from moving.
Suddenly, the old woman who had raised him said "I see you met my pets. Tell me, do you want to come back with me now, or would you like them to rip you apart?" Drake replied "Fine! I'll come back!" He followed the woman back to the house. She let him sleep however.
Something strange happened that night. Drake had a dream. He was surrounded by darkness, pain, loneliness. Suddenly, a light shone through, not from outside, but from within him. He felt strong, independent, but also... He no longer felt alone, strangely. Then he woke up. There was a strange mark on his right hand. He was puzzled by it. He decided to ignore it and try to go back to sleep... This time, he had a different dream. He was strong and powerful. He chased after something, a rabbit and then when he finally caught it, he... Roasted it with fire and ate it? He felt this was strange, but he went along with the dream.
He woke up the next morning strangely energized. He noticed something on the floor. Rabbit fur...? he wondered curiously. That dream last night, was it...? No, not possible. He was excited by the dream he'd had somehow. He looked into the mirror in his room. "AH!" he screamed. His eyes were... Eerie. He sat there, staring at them for a bit, before they turned back to normal. That day, he did his work much more easily than usual. In fact, he actually managed to complete it somehow! It was nighttime by then however, so he went to sleep.
The next day... Drake could have sworn he was dreaming. The woman was being... kind? No, more than that, she was offering to wait on him hand and foot. Strange... He couldn't make sense of it. After she was done treating him like royalty, she asked him if he would like to learn how to fight with swords and... magic? Drake said "Yes," though a bit uncertainly.
This continued for four years. He frequently had the odd dreams of hunting in the forest, but he didn't think much of them. He was actually given free-time to look at books, he loved reading, and the woman taught him how to fight. She was almost unnaturally strong. It was rather eerie. He never learned how to fight against her effectively, however, he did learn how to fight. Same with magic. However, one day, while the woman was off in the forest, he decided to sneak into her room and see if she had a journal he could read. It was a rash decision, and somewhat unlike him, but he couldn't take it anymore. Recently, they had been visited by some... Strange people. Something about them seemed incredibly strange.
Their visiting had finally put him over the edge. He needed to know what was going on. He broke into his "grandmother's" room, and ripped it apart. He eventually did find what he was looking for. Her journal. He opened it, and it said "Drake's conditioning journal." a chill went down his spine. He flipped to the first entry. "I have found several strange people. The two parents seem to both be half-elves, but something more. They have a strange gift, able to transform into dragons. They both showed me this power, as they tried to protect me from monsters, not realizing that I had the power to do so myself. Their son does not seem to have this power. I have invited them to live with me, and they accepted." A chill went down Drake's spine at the last sentence of this paragraph, which read "I will do experiments on the parents."
He flipped through several more pages that seemed to be filled with technical jargon, until he reached something he was able to read. "Something went wrong with the experiments. Both of the test subjects have become stuck in dragon form, unable to come out. However, they seem bound to my will, though their minds are still clearly there, they cannot help but do as I say. They shall guard me from in the forest. I will make their son suffer, until he runs away and finds them, see if they recognize each other. I have no doubt he will run away, I shall not make him fear me, only hate."
Drake could not believe this. He had been raised by an utter psycho! He kept reading, until he reached an entry he had been dreading. "The child, Drake, had finally ran away, and met his parents. They recognized him and resisted my power, but I prevailed over their minds with my total magical control! They captured him easily, with no injuries but a single bite! He came back without anymore fight. However, it seems that he reacted to the bite they gave. His appearance has changed slightly, he has become stronger than before, almost like he has an exsphere, and he now has the ability to transform into a dragon, though he only does so at night. I will now begin getting him to trust me, before I experiment on him."
Drake could barely wrap his mind around what he had seen here. This woman, who had raised him, who claimed to be his grandmother, was a horrible, horrible monster. He skipped ahead to today's entry. "Drake refuses to trust me, he still views me with suspicion. I will begin experiments on him tonight, some people have approached me. They slipped past the dragons, Drake's parents, and asked me about them. They asked how I had tamed the dragons, and if I could get them some as well. I told them that I could do even better. I will begin experiments on Drake tonight, to condition him to be a soldier the likes of which they have never seen before. I will be paid well." Drake's eyes widened. He had to get out of here! He dropped the book on the floor.
He grabbed two swords that had been laying around, one long, one short, and ran out of there. He ran and ran, barely looking behind him. He heard strange laughter, as he ran and ran and ran. He did not see, but the woman was in her room again. She wrote in the book "The experiment has begun."
Other Information: Drake can transform into a dragon.
Drake's dragon form is actually slightly smaller than his human form. It looks almost snake-like actually, and is covered with light green scales, though it has four somewhat small legs. The front legs seem almost like arms, ending with what aren't quite hands, three almost-fingers, tipped with small but extremely sharp claws, and one claw sticking out about where the wrist would be when compared to a human's. He can actually grab things with his front claws, but can't really work with them the same way as in human form, lacking thumbs. The back legs are similar, but he can't move their claws.
The emerald-green colored wings are extremely small, and don't actually appear like they would allow him to fly. In fact, the way he moves through the air would almost lead you to believe that he doesn't even use them at all, he almost seems to move in a similar way to a snake slithering, except through the air. Well, considering that the very nature of his having a dragon form at all would have to be magical, perhaps he flies as if magically as well.
He has several elemental breaths in dragon form. He can breathe fire, like a typical storybook dragon, he can breathe shards of ice out, or he can breathe a bolt of lightning out, or just send a blast of air with a roar. He also has a beam-like breath, where he charges up and then releases energy in a beam of bright white light. While charging up for this attack, his wings glow with a bright white light as well.
------------------
His spells have good variety. He is able to use all elements except Darkness, which he really doesn't like much. However, he didn't bother to learn attack spells for water, so you won't see him doing much other than maybe helping put out a fire or watering a plant with it.
