• Appearance •

Raine isn't the tallest woman, standing only 166cm (Lloyd is even taller than her...), though she is slim and fairly shapely. Her figure is that of the average woman her age, even though you can't really tell due to all of the clothes she wears. She has long, thin hands and a long face, with pointed ears that are covered by her hair.

Speaking of her hair, it is silver in color, it falls about to her shoulders in an upward flip. She has long bangs that flip to the left, keeping thier position naturally. Short side bangs also hang down, with an inward flip that give a nice overall effect to the style.

Her usual attire consists of a white shirt with a mandarin collar lined with blue that goes to about the bottom of her rib cage in a zipper. In the front, it sports a light cut, though in the back it cuts about half way up her back in a round fall. Her pants are a simple brown-black color, made of light fabric that tuck into her boots. They are white slouch boots, that fan out at the top in an upcurved pattern, with a button in the center of the curve.

Over her clothes, Raine wears a long cloak of tough orange and black fabric. The base is a long overcoat with tails in the front in the back. They are split up the sides, and thickly lined with black. In the front, they end in a diamond cut and in the back with a slanted cut. Two buttons sit below the shoulders, where a black stripe runs from them to white pockets with black lining and a button on them. Both sleeves sport a cuff with a simalar upcurved pattern to the boots, lined with black and a button at the curve. Over this cloak is a shorter piece. In the front, it lines the shirt collar, connects below, and then curves sharply inward and then continues down, fanning out a bit. The curve lines the button, and the entire thing is lined with black. In the back, two tails fall to about half way down her back, and at the top, it is circled with a button in the center connected to the cloak underneath it.


• Personality •

Normally, Raine is seen as a "Cool Beauty", always the one who's calm and collected. She's incredibly intelligent, which only adds to the whole air.

Being a teacher, she has that sort of feeling around her--she looves giving lectures and throwing chalk with her super chalk-throwing powers. Of course, she has that sort of "Teacher Voice" thing that is a bit intimidating, even though she means perfectly well.

Having been through much hardship, Raine also has a cold side. She only means to do what's right, and to do her best to protect the task at hand--though it doesn't come off very well. She doesn't trust easily--in fact, she doesn't seem to trust very much at all. Of course, in casual situations with strangers she tends to be friendly.

And then of course there's the whole "Teacher-student" thing. If there's someone younger than her to teach--you can be sure she's going to teach. Not listening? Be perpared for a bad spanking--no matter how old you think you are. Of course, when you do something right or something that surpasses your usual level of intellegence--she's quite proud of you.

But then, of course, there's Ruin Mode. If you so much as mention a ruin, you bet she's going to get excited. Raine is also an archeologist, so when she sees some sort of ancient anyting, she gets very very happy--insanely happy. At a ruin, she'll go mad, examining it, studying it--rubbing her face against its smooth surface. What? That's right. She's insane. Ruin Mode.

• Past •

Raine was born to an elf, Verginia, and a human, Kloitz. Kloitz had been sent to Hiemdall from Meltokio to investigate the elven village, where he and Verginia had fallen in love. They married, where they remained in Heimdall, though, a half-elf that lived in the village attempted to sell-out Kloitz, that caused a huge incident that eventually resulted in the couple being banned from the village. They'd travelled around, trying to find a safe haven, but the world wasn't kind to half-elves, and Raine and her brother Genis were left at the otherworldly gate. The pair had then fled to Heimdall, where Kloitz died soon after. Verginia had believed that the land of Sylvarant would be kinder to half-elves, and they cold live free of descrimination (which wasn't true, though).

The Professor had been incredibly intelligent, even since she was a child, and apparently the Imperial Research Academy had been dying to get thier hands on her. But Verginia hadn't wanted her to be locked up in such a place, like a slave, so she had sent her away.

In Sylvarant, she and Genis had wandered around, eventually settling down in a small village called Iselia. They'd been free of the Desians due to the treaty the village had, and Raine had a pleasable job as the local school teacher, teaching everything from math to Physical Education. It was there that she taught Lloyd, and the Chosen of Mana, Colette. She and Genis had kept thier true identities a secret, by claiming that they were pureblood Elves, and not half-elves.

When the day of the Oracle came, Raine had rushed off to the Martel Temple, excited to study it~they'd never let usual commoners in thier otherwise. Although, she'd almost been caught by Lloyd and Genis, and wound up giving them a nice spanking for sneaking out of class when she'd said to study.

The next morning, she'd left with the Chosen of Mana on the Journey of Regeneration, accompanied by the mercenary Kratos. They'd had to take a side trip to Rescue Lloyd, though, when he'd been captured by the Renegades.

And then, her big secret was discovered at Triet Ruins, when she couldn't hold herself back from studying that lovely polycarbonate~ another Ruin Mode incident was at the Balacurf Dais, when those idiots had tried to destroy it. And then there were the Rheards--though she didn't show it, as she flew on the magitechnology, she was having a ball!...until they crashed. Then the rest is history.

Raine despises her mother, is a specialized healer, is a Ruin Maniac, and is Genis' older sister.
